Deciding:

In the deciding stage, you must first come to grips with the fact that you need a new job. There can be many reasons why you would need a new job. Perhaps, you are not happy at your current job, or you currently are not employed. Whatever the reason may be, the fact of the matter is you must be ready to dive into the world of job hunting.

Resume:

The next step would be to either create or modify your resume. In either case, your resume's content should be pertinent to the job that you are seeking. An exception to this is if you are just starting out where you have no relevant background. In this case, it is perfectly okay to have items on your resume with no relevance to the job because any work experience can show the employer traits such as independence and responsibility.

Online Posting:

After you have created your resume, the next step is to post it online. There are a number of online job markets available to you. Make sure to post to as many as possible as this will allow employers to search on your resume while you are performing your own job searches. This will definitely speed up the job search process.

Recruiter:

Getting involved with a recruiter will also do wonders for speeding up your job search. It is the same idea as putting your resume online. The recruiter will be aiding you in your attempt to find some new work while you are doing the same. The more recruiters you become affiliated with, the better. Once you have done this, you will notice that your phone will be ringing off the hook with possible interview opportunities. Keep in mind, the first phone call from a recruiter will more than likely be a "get to know you" phone call so they have a better idea of how to sell you to the companies that they deal with.

Interview:

When preparing for an interview, here are few tips to keep in mind. You should do research on the company that you are interviewing with. This will always impress a potential employer. Make sure you dress appropriately which means suit and tie. Being the best dressed candidate will also have a positive effect. Make sure you are there 30 minutes early. Bring material/work from previous jobs as sort of a show-and-tell for the potential employer. The more effort you put into the interview is obviously for your own good. You should always maintain eye contact as this shows that you are interested in what the interviewer is stating. You should always be the one to do more talking during the interview. After the interview is over, you should always ask for the interviewers business card.

Thank you Letter:

Finally, you have completed the process of interviewing. The final step is to send a thank you to the interviewers through email. This is why you ask for the business card. Telling them that you want to thank them for the opportunity to interview and that you hope to hear from them soon regarding employment. This is just another way for you to get a leg up on the competition.
